Car Wash services sound simple but there a very detailed science behind it.
Although most of us trust our daily morning car cleaner, but the truth is, more often than not, they are the ones making your car look bad.
Lets see the top 10 ways to wash your car like a pro:
Type of wash: The most common types of car washing is:
Pressurized water wash: This uses a high pressure water gun to remove dirt from all around the car, perfect for underbody cleaning if you have just come back from an off-roading trip but very bad for the paint on the body panels. The high pressure water could worsen the scratches by pushing the dust particles even further. Also this leads to wastage of water, thus not a very environmentally friendly option.
2 bucket wash: This requires 2 buckets of water and 2 high quality micro fiber cloth. 2 bucket wash method needs the washer to clean the car with the wet cloth and keep drying it with the dry cloth so that the water does not leave a stain. This uses lesser amount of water, thus it is more environmentally friendly than pressurized water wash.
Foam Wash: Instead of using plain water, foam water mix is sprayed on the car body. The remaining process with the micro fiber cloth stays the same. This uses the least amount of water and does not cause any damage to the body paint.
Type of water: It is the most important and the most ignored component of a car wash. If you are using hard water to clean your car it will leave white stains or scale marks on the car which will lead to the car losing its luster very soon. Thus big car wash centers use descaling plants to convert hard water to soft before washing cars with it. Another method to do this at home is using water softeners which reduces the hardness of water.
Type of cloth: Always use a clean micro fiber cloth (500+gsm) to wipe your car so that the cloth does not cause micro scratches on the car.
Type of Shampoo: You should use a car shampoo from a renowned brand. My favorite is turtle wax.
Process:
Wash and dry 1-2 panels at a time, otherwise you might leave water stains on them.
Start washing from the roof and then go down from there.
Do not spray water in the engine area, you can use a damp cloth with soap water.
Use sponge and a soft brush with soap water/foam to clean the tires and rims.
That's all, keep em shining......
